Staff counselors offer a wide variety of classroom workshops and seminars for schools, employers and community groups covering:
- Teambuilding
- Leadership skills
- Budgeting
- Job and Career Readiness Training
- On the job etiquette
- “Soft Skills” such as anger management, self-esteem,
Communication, positive attitude, goal setting
Job search, resume assistance, mock interviews, assistance with completing school or job applications is available for any individual. Qualified individuals participate in Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Programs.
WIA Adult
The purpose of the Adult Employment and Training Program is to lead adults toward a successful career. Many opportunities are offered to those who are interested in becoming the leaders of tomorrow. This program is designed to assist adults with acquiring skills through Education for a successful career.
This is NOT a job placement program
To be eligible you must be/meet:

INCOME: guidelines based on household size and EARNED wages of everyone in the household

IN-DEMAND OCCUPATION: guidelines based on projected opening within your chosen field

WIA APPROVED TRAINING: training program must meet WIA requirements
* Eligibility will be determined by your case manager
Array of Services Offered
WIA Adult Employment and Training Program can offer links to the following services through a partnership of area schools and agencies in your community.

Tutoring, Study Skills Training: One-on-one or in group sessions, designed to assist in completion of post-secondary education

Resume and Cover Letter Writing: One-on-one or in group sessions, designed to assist participants with job search before, during or after completion of education

Mock Interviews: One-on-one or in group sessions, designed to assist participants with preparing for an Interview

Occupational Skills Training: Occupational specific training provided by a public or private vendor with demonstrated training capability

Leadership Development: Services intended to develop the potential of customers as citizens

Supportive Services: Approved services such as transportation, child care, and assistance with tuition, books, and fees, for eligible individuals that are necessary to enable an individual to participate in activities
WIA Youth
The purpose of the Youth Employment and Training Program is to lead youth toward a successful career. Many opportunities are offered to those who are interested in becoming the leaders of tomorrow. This program is designed to prepare youth for future Education & Employment.
This is NOT a job placement program
To be eligible you must be:
- AGE: Must be between 14-21 at the time of registration
- INCOME: Guidelines based on household size and EARNED wages of everyone in the household
- BARRIERS: Must have at least one additional barrier to education or employment. These barriers must be verifiable through school, medical or employment records. A list of these barriers will be discussed at the time of application
Array of Services Offered
- Tutoring, Study Skills Training: “One-on-one or in group sessions, designed to assist youth in completion of secondary education.
- Alternative Secondary Schools: Educational opportunities in institutions or settings that provide a secondary school diploma or its equivalent.
- Interest and Aptitude Surveys: A variety of interest and aptitude surveys will be administered to students and interpreted to provide other, perhaps unexplored areas for career possibilities.
- Work Experience: short –term pre-vocational services designed to instill good work habits and good work ethics. A limited number of subsidized employment opportunities may be available.
- Occupational Skills Training: Occupational specific training provided by a public or private vendor with demonstrated training capability.
- Leadership Development: Services intended to develop the potential of youth as citizens.
- Supportive Services: Approved services such as transportation, child care, uniforms, for eligible individuals that are necessary to enable an individual to participate in activities.
- Adult Mentoring: Teaming up youth with responsible adults that will serve as role models and teach the youth skills, work habits, and/or responsible behavior.
- Follow Up Services: Regularly scheduled contact with customers and/or their employer, lasting 12 months to insure success and self sufficiency.
